Gaetana Scelzi, also known as Gae, and affectionately known as Aunt Gae - born in New York City on November 7, 1942 passed away July 8, 2015. Beloved daughter of pre-deceased mother, Frances Iannuzzi; pre-deceased step-father, Joseph Iannuzzi; pre-deceased father, Anthony Avolio; and pre-deceased step-mother, Katherine Avolio. Beloved mother to pre-deceased son, William (Billy) Scelzi; and grandmother to William Scelzi. Beloved sister to Rosalie and her spouse Robert Moore; and Anthony Avolio. Beloved sister to Michael and his spouse Ann Marie Avolio; sister to pre-deceased, Josephine Avolio; sister to Sammy and his spouse, Joanne Avolio; sister to Andy and his spouse, Jessica Avolio; sister to Kathy and her spouse, Michael. Beloved aunt to Michael Megale and his spouse, Allison Astorita-Megale; Angela Megale and her spouse, Sueann Flynn-Megale; Anthony Megale and his spouse, Bethany Kressly-Megale; Francine Stabile and her spouse, Jerome Stabile; Dina Avolio-Schack and her spouse, Jay Schack. Beloved great-aunt to Jennifer Megale, Vincent Megale, Nicole Boccia, Nicolette Stabile, A.J. Megale, Amanda Boccia, Michael Megale, Joseph Stabile, Natalie Megale, Brandon Megale-Flynn; and Ashley Avolio. Beloved friend to Teresa Aumock, who was affectionately known as her Peapod; and beloved friend to many countless others. Her smile was infectious. Her laugh was priceless and contagious. Her walk was dignified. Her love was genuine. Her friendships were true and from the heart. Her wisdom was intelligent and cultivated from vast life experiences. She was very generous with her wisdom if you took the time to listen. Her strength was unmatched. She put the ‘class’ in classy. Although born in New York City with her later years spent in Port St Lucie, FL and Saint Cloud, FL her true home will always be the Bronx. She was a lifelong New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. Her name was Gaetana Scelzi. Her friends called her Gae. She was lovingly known to hundreds of family and friends as Aunt Gae. She was the coolest Aunt ever. Our Dearest Aunt Gae, You will NEVER be forgotten. Your spirit and guidance will remain with us always. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 17th from 4-6 P.M. with a 6 P.M. service to begin in the funeral home chapel with Father Kent Walker officiating.
