Beverly J. Perkins

BEVERLY JOAN (Hackney) PERKINS, 89 passed away from congestive heart failure surrounded by her girls at her home in Orlando, Florida on August 9th. She was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1933, the oldest of 9 children. At the age of 18, she joined the Army where she attended business school and was a Private 2nd class. She met her husband, Vernon Perkins in the Army and were married for 35 years. She was employed at Wells Fargo Bank and Wellstar Hospital in Atlanta, GA for over 30 years. Beverly was a member of Spring of Life Methodist Church. St. Clouds Women’s Club; Young at Heart; and various card groups. She was also a follower of Southern Gospel Music and spent years traveling around to see her favorite groups. She enjoyed any type of games – her favorites being Hand, Knee, Foot and Mahjong. She was not just the Matriarch of the family, but the “leader of the pack” in setting up game days, fellowships, theatre groups, and any other thing that she thought her friends should be doing. She told us all “where we were going, and who we were playing with”. She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Perkins Hanisch of Southampton, NY and Orlando, FL.; Peggy Perkins-Fricks and her son-in-law, Tom Fricks of Orlando, FL., and her son-in-law John Hanisch, Sr. and his wife Alice Hanisch of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. She had three children who passed before her, Gail Perkins Cannizzaro, Verna Joy Perkins, and Stephen Perkins. She is also survived by her grandchildren, John Hanisch, Jr. and his wife Marina; Michael Hanisch and his wife Lauren; and Kaily Clark and her husband Dan. She had 5 great grandchildren, Jackson, Sienna, Michael Joseph, and Logan Hanisch, as well as Caitlin Clark. She has three remaining siblings who have survived her – Alex Aiken, Linda Legendre, and Leslie Williams. A celebration of life will be held at Spring of Life Methodist Church, 11101 Moss Park Road, Orlando, FL 32832 at 1:00 on Wednesday, August 30th. The family will receive visitors starting at 12.30.
