Joel Garrett
October 11, 1955 - January 3, 2022
We mournfully announce the passing of our dear brother Joel Garrett, 66, of Orlando, FL. Joel passed away on the evening of January 3rd, after a long and hard fought battle with cancer with his loving sister and caretaker, Redell, by his side. Born to the late Walter Garrett and Ernestine Price on October 11, 1955 , Joel grew up and he lived in Philadelphia as a loving soul with a passion for life and art . After graduating from Overbook High School in 1973, Joel went on to hold a series of jobs from driving to facilities maintenance. Joel lived in Texas and in Florida for a few and retired at an early age due to an illness. While Joel was unmarried and didn’t have any children, he lived a full and vibrant life with the love of his family and friends. Joel was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Ernestine Garrett, his sisters, Dorthy Moore and Christina James of Philadelphia, Pa, and his older brother, Willie Garrett of Philadelphia, Pa. He is survived by his siblings: Roger Garrett (Philadelphia, Pa), Ella Brown,(Sumpter, Sc), Redell Howze (Orlando, Fl), James B. Garrett, Benjamin Garrett, Deena Gupton, Matthew Gupton of Philadelphia, Pa, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. We will all miss him dearly. A celebration of life will be held in his hometown of Philadelphia, Pa in early March 2022. Flowers and donations may be sent to 1919 Lazy Oak Loop, Saint Cloud, Fl 34771. A LIMB HAS fallen from the family tree that says Grieve not for me Remember the BEST TIMES, the laughter, the song The good life I lived while I was STRONG.
