Thora Ruth Clarke

Angels and saints in Heaven rejoiced when our Lord Jesus Christ took the hand of His faithful servant, Thora Ruth Clarke, and led her home on February 13, 2012. Ruth was born to Harold and Thora Seaman in Schenectady, New York on January 16, 1915. She attended Schenectady schools and graduated Valedictorian from Mt. Pleasant High School. She was an accomplished pianist and piano teacher. As a faithful Christian, she was very active in First Reformed Church of West Glenville, serving as Sunday School Superintendant, teacher, pianist, as well as President of the Ladies Aid Society for many years. She married the love of her life, Delroy Clarke, on April 5, 1935 and celebrated 72 years of marriage before Del was called home to Heaven in 2007. Together they raised four children in West Glenville, New York, surrounding them with love and joy. They retired to St. Cloud, Florida in 1979 where they became faithful members of the Gateway Baptist Church. Because of Ruth?s kind, gentle spirit, she touched the lives of multiple people, including loved ones, friends, and strangers as well; never missing an opportunity to share her reason for her faith and give words of encouragement to all. She, in turn, was rewarded by being surrounded by many earthly angels. Ruth?s children would like to extend a sincere thank you to Linda and George Wayland and mom?s caregiver, Dorothy Dodd. She is survived by her children, Donald (Fay) Clarke, Richard (Dori) Clarke, Cynthia Cullen and Janet (Frederick) Bogdon. She is also survived by her sister, Marilyn Wukits, nine grandchildren, three step-granddaughters, twenty-two great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Paul Seaman, Arthur Seaman and Abbott Seaman. A celebration of Ruth?s life will be held on the 16th of February, 2012 at 4:00 P.M, at the Gateway Baptist Church.
