Phyllis M. Bonney

Phyllis Marie Bonney, 91, of Saint Cloud, Florida, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2016. She was born on August 16, 1924 to Russell M. and Alberta (Roth) Schriner in Greensboro, NC. As we can remember after so many years the history of her life, a time before she was married, sometime around World War II, our mother worked at the Curtiss Wright Plant in Buffalo, New York as a Riveter during the war effort along with other women. Shortly after the war her education was extended into a teaching profession. At that time, she met our father, now deceased, was married and lived around Attica, NY. A short time later, they moved to Olean, NY to live while our father worked at Bell Telephone. She then furthered her education and received a teachers degree. From there she taught in Allentown School in Allentown, NY. With one child and a set of twins on the way, they moved to Portville Central School. During the years followed, our mother was very artistic. Along with my mother, our parents opened a craft store at our home. Mom always cared for us and other children using her teaching skills at home and at school. These skills were also displayed at our Presbyterian Church in Portville, NY. We were all taught the basic principles of cooking and other ways of life, even after our graduation of school these teaching skills were then taken to St. Cloud, Florida where they moved in 1978. Throughout the years in St. Cloud, she still continued her teaching skills around the community and the Presbyterian Church. Until this day, we all can remember what we learned from her lessons. Phyllis is survived by her two sons, Dennis L. Bonney and his wife Karen of Ocoee, FL, and Gerald L. Bonney and wife Romaine of Bolivar, NY; and daughter, Renee Ensell of Olean, NY; daughter-in-law, Karen Bonney and several grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son; Ronald Bonney. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 25th from 3 - 7 pm, at Fisk Funeral Home, Saint Cloud. Services for Phyllis will be held at 11 am, Saturday, March 26th at Saint Cloud Presbyterian Church. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Kissimmee. Following the interment, the family invites everyone back to the church for continued fellowship and a reception.
