Neil Lawrence Vandenberg

Neil Lawrence Vandenberg, of St. Cloud, Florida, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, Monday, July 20, 2015 at his residence. He was born on February 19, 1927 to the late Jay and Stella (Hubbell) Vandenberg in Duluth, MN. As a child he lived in the Superior, WI area until he enlisted in the United States Navy when he was 17. He was a fireman 1st class when he was honorably discharge in December of 1947. On October 25, 1948 he married Alzora (Al) Woodward in Waukegan, IL and they resided in Kenosha, WI. Neil started work at Rambler Corporation as a welder and retired from American Motors Corporation as a Superintendent of Maintenance after 35 years. Upon his retirement, they move to St. Cloud, FL and he went to work for Morrison and Knutson Corporation as a consultant. He traveled the world for work, enjoying his adventures in such places as China, Argentina, Portugal, Venezuela, and Hungary. Neil was an avid sports fan. He would root for his precious Green Bay Packers and the ever struggling Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and playing cards with family and friends. Neil is survived by brothers Lloyd (Ivy) Vandenberg of Superior, WI, Vern Wallin of Kissimmee, FL, and John (Betty) Vandenberg of Oshkosh, WI; his children, Richard (Jan) Vandenberg of St. Cloud, FL, Robert (Judy) Vandenberg of Benicia, CA, Carol (Jo McLaughlin) Vandenberg of Packwaukee, WI and Karen Cuozzo of Seattle, WA; his grandchildren, Ryan and Rachelle Vandenberg, Tim and Jeff Vandenberg, Danny and Mickey Bass, CynDi Nielsen, Jeff Hyde, and Amber Cuozzo and his 17 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his beloved companion and domestic partner, Bonnie Huber and her children, Dolly (Jimmy) Howell, Denise (Jerry) Hobson, and Tony Cissell and their many children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by Alzora as well as his brothers, Lyle Vandenberg, Dale Wallin, Duane Wallin, his sisters Juanita Brobst, Diann Vandenberg, and Bonnie’s son, Bobby Cissell. The family would like to thank the Samaritan Care Hospices nurses and CNAs for the help and friendship. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral services for Neil held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the Fisk Funeral Home: visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a Memorial Tribute Service at 1 p.m. Honor Guard Services and Internment to follow at Mt.
