Mildred S. Doern

Mildred S. Doern, 89, of Saint Cloud, FL, passed away on September 10, 2025 peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 1, 1936 to William and Mildred (Zeffery) Hietpas in Appleton, WI. Mildred is survived by her loving family; daughters, Lori L. Stangle, Teri L. (Robert) Petrillo both of Saint Cloud, FL, daughter-in-law, Kathy Schmitzer of Chilton, WI; 7 grandchildren: Thomas (Rachel Llanas) Schmitzer of Lake Geneva, WI; Wendy (Larry) Propson of Chilton, WI; Jennifer (Tim Sustarich) Schmitzer of Madison, WI; Dustin (Nicki) Hindle of Saint Cloud, FL; Cameron (Rachel) Hindle of Saint Cloud, FL; Logan (Hannah Holoubek) Hindle of Saint Cloud, FL; and Jaden Hindle of Kissimmee, FL; 11 great-grandchildren: Austin (Sydni) Schmitzer & Beckham of Largo, FL; Layne & Cale Dement of Cocoa, FL; Alex Hein of Chilton, WI; Autmn Grace of Sidney, NY; Ryleigh, Emma, Nash, and Gray Hindle of St. Cloud, FL; Olivia Hindle of St. Cloud, FL; and many nieces and nephews who loved her very much and always made it a point to make her feel so special. Millie was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas David Schmitzer & Delbert Doern; her loving partner, Charles O’Shields; her children, Debra Ann Drake and Thomas David Schmitzer; her grandchildren, Rebecca Schmitzer and Matthew Grace; her siblings, Dorothy Jean and William Hietpas, Shirley Bender-Gehrt, and Geraldine Daverveld; and her lifelong friend, Cathy Miller. Millie was a woman of faith and loved her Saturday church services followed by her weekly dinner at Chilis. Millie loved her children and grandchildren more than anything and could often be heard bragging about them to anyone who would listen. For as long as she could, she and her loving partner, Charlie O’Shields, would attend every game, awards ceremony, and school event they could for their grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This was a charity that Millie was very passionate about.
