In Loving Memory of Michael Scott Cassidy Michael Scott Cassidy, born September 1, 1950, passed away peacefully at home, with his loving wife, Trish Titer, and their beloved black lab, Finch by his side on May 2, 2025. Scott was born to Mary and Howard Titer in Springfield, Ohio. His birth name was Michael Alan Titer (quite the plot twist, huh!), but his family always called him either Mick or Micky. Scott was the second of four boys born to Mary and Howard. Scott was predeceased by two of his brothers, Howard Neal Titer, Jr. and Jeffry Titer. He leaves a younger brother Christopher C. Titer (wife Kay) in Covington, Ohio. Scott is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Trish Titer who will forever cherish the memories of their adventures, and Finch who will miss conning Scott into one more cookie. He is also survived by his niece, Elizabeth (Titer) Beghelli (husband Mattia) and their two daughters, a sister-in-law, Jeanette Duensing and her two children, and the life partner of his brother Howard Neal Jr, Donna Noyes. As a mother, Mary taught the boys to do their own housekeeping, laundry, cooking and more. Her philosophy was: "gently push them out of the nest as they grow up", while his father told the boys to learn how to fix anything. He graduated from the Ohio State University with a major in Agricultural Journalism and minor in Radio-TV broadcasting. Scott’s quick wit and dry sense of humor served him well throughout his storied career. One of his first jobs while still in school was doing the daily hog reports for the local farm network. First full-time jobs in broadcasting were at WCOM-FM (Urbana, OH) and WRED (Columbus, OH). From there he moved to WWOL (Buffalo, NY) where the radio station changed his air name to Scott Cassidy - a good name for a country music station and he kept that name from then on, changing it legally years later. After WWOL he went to WEBR Radio also in Buffalo. And from there to Country Music station KAYQ, Kansas City. Shortly after marrying Trish in 1978, they moved to WWSW in Pittsburgh, PA. That station was also known over the years as 3WS and WTKN. He stayed there nine years in varying roles as country music announcer, program director and talk show host where he continued to charm audiences and colleagues alike. During these radio stints, Scott was a strong believer in saving money so he would always have enough money to move due to the unstable field of broadcasting! In 1988, Scott and Trish made the bold decision to swap snow for sunshine and moved to Florida so he could begin a career at Walt Disney World as a Senior Marketing Representative in Promotions. In that job he would coordinate Disney promotional efforts with radio and TV stations across the US. That's how he made the transition from broadcasting to Disney. As the years progressed, he advanced to positions such as Brand Manager for Epcot, Director (and later VP) of Field and Participant Marketing, Vice President of Promotions for Parks and Resorts, and finally SVP for Global Alliance Marketing with Disney Parks & Resorts. As SVP, Scott was responsible for Promotions, Synergy, Talent Relations, Public Relations, Creative Inc., and Special Events, which included Disney’s Signature Events like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Epcot’s Food & Wine Festival. Before retiring in 2016, one of his crowning achievements was overseeing the grand opening of Shanghai Disneyland, where he worked closely with Leslie Ferraro and Bob Iger to bring their visions to life. His Special Events team executed the opening with such flair that even Mickey Mouse was impressed. It was an eventful and rewarding 28 years! Scott is fondly remembered by friends and colleagues for his integrity, honesty, mentorship, and of course his tremendous sense of humor—qualities that made him a beloved figure in the industry. He was also known for his love of plain, simple food, which he often claimed was the secret to his success. Scott loved dogs. Trish and Scott's first dogs were Saint Bernards. The first, a six-week-old was named Brandy. Later, they raised Maggie and Gordon a sister/brother team. Maggie and Gordon were seven months old when Scott made the move to Orlando. It was quite the sight in the airport to see two large Saint Bernards walk-through baggage claim! After them, Trish and Scott adopted older dogs from shelters and took in a neighborhood stray. Harry Moe, Jeffy, Danny, Zach and KC were all part of their lives. Several years ago, Scott served on the Board of Directors for Canine Companions for Independence and adopted one of the dogs who "flunked out" of their training program, Finch. Finch flunked out since he would only do the commands 80% of the time - not good enough for a disabled person. Finch is still with Trish and still does commands 80% of the time, but he is sweet and loves everyone and everyone loves him. After retirement Scott took on some consulting work, including two trips to Saudia Arabia where they were hoping to add entertainment to their country and needed expertise from those who had been in the profession. Once he was ready for full retirement, he planned many incredible trips so Trish could see all the places on her travel Bucket List. (He already traveled extensively in his work with Disney). He got all of Trish's wish list done and many more too. Among the bucket list travel was Yellowstone, Alaska, Hawaii and the Disney Parks abroad in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Paris. Between trips Scott and Trish enjoyed long walks together, staying fit, and returning to Ohio State University for the annual homecoming game. But most weekends, you could find him on his tractor, embracing simple pleasures teaching himself to play the piano. He followed the world news and politics closely and was an expert in repairing almost anything, especially if there were YouTube videos. He could study and learn anything he put his mind to. Many people would seek him out for advice when making their career choices and more. He was well respected and loved by so many. And according to Trish, he was a kind and loving husband for 47 years. Scott’s laughter, love, and legendary stories will be missed by all who knew him.
