Mary Ellen Smith

Mary Ellen Smith, 60, wife of Bobby Smith and sister to Stephen Kucik of St. Cloud, Florida and was preceded in death by her father Stephen Kucik and her mother, Jane Kucik, went peacefully to her heavenly home early on Tuesday morning, November 5th, 2013, after a long bout with heart trouble. She had a beautiful night Monday shared with friends and family with talks of Fr. Solanis Casey. Mary personified the saying "good things come in small packages" and always being very petite in stature like her mother, she was also was very (feisty). As a young girl, born in Detroit, Michigan and lived there till her adult life. Mary enjoyed staying outside more than the inside. She was a cute little "Tom Boy"and as a girl who liked to follow her older brother Steve and his friends while they played and she climbed trees like a boy. Mary even sported a black eye in her delicate white dress and veil at her first Holy Communion from falling out of a tree days before. She never outgrew her love for nature and animals. Travel adventures in the mountains was her favorite get away place being Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, which was Mary and Bob's last camping trip. T-shirts, blue jeans, lightly tasselled hair and a smile was her trademarks. She and her late mother would spend hours on the phone daily and they only lived three blocks apart. Mary showed concern and love for her family. She enjoyed family get togethers with numerous cousins and friends like Pearl, that lives in Canada. When Mary's mother and father moved to Florida, Bob and Mary followed soon after. And later, Mary's brother Steve also moved to Florida, who also has the spirit of adventure. Mary's beloved Bob has so many fond memories on how he and Mary met and had many very happy personal times that followed in their long married life of 38 1/2 years. Mary made a home full of fun, love and furry little children. I married my best friend, with the sorrow of two miscarriages, job changes, health and joys and we remained as a team to conquor the world. Mary's outward shyness around strangers would burst out in definite opinions of the right and wrong of things. Mary reminds me of "Ella" the dear wife and companion of her husband on the animated hit, UP, and that is Mary now in Gods hands. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 11th from 4-8pm at Fisk Funeral Home, Saint Cloud. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am, Tuesday, Nov.12 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, St. Cloud. Interment to follow at Mount Peace Cemetery, St. Cloud.
