Louis Charles Hollis

Louis Charles Hollis, age 70, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2015. Charlie is survived by his wife Cindy Greene Hollis; three sons, Louis Charles Hollis, Jr., (Natalie), Brandon Charles Hollis (Tara) and Christopher Ryan Hollis; one brother, David Hollis; three grandchildren: Codie Jane Hollis, Louis Charles Hollis, III and Kaine Faircloth. Charlie was born January 16, 1945 in Venice, FL to Elizabeth and Louis Hollis. Charlie attended Sarasota High School where he was a member of the Sailor Circus. After high School, he attended Florida State University where he was a member of the F.S.U. Circus. After college he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force and was deployed during the Vietnam War with the 553 Reconnaissance Wing. Charlie was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1971 as a Staff Sergeant. Charlie worked in law enforcement for both the Lake City Police Department and the Columbia County Sheriffs Office as a Patrolman and later a Criminal Investigator. Charlie taught science at Lake City Junior High School. Charlie had a brief political career, running for both sheriff and clerk of courts in Columbia County, before settling in as director of community development in Lake City. Charlie moved to the Orlando area in 1984 and began working at the engineering firm, Griener. In 2003, Charlie created Airport Construction Safety LLC at Orlando International Airport. Charlie enjoyed flying and was a licensed pilot for much of his life. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, golf, and especially fishing. He enjoyed scuba diving and was previously a diving instructor. Charlie enjoyed photography, riding his motorcycle and artifact hunting. Everyone who knew him, knew that he gave 100% to every endeavor he took on, whether it be work or play. He was well known for helping people in need and for his elaborate pranks. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and a loyal friend who never met a stranger. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Fisk Funeral Home in St. Cloud on February 21st, 2015 at 2 pm. The service will include a sharing of words and thoughts in memory of Charlie.
