JoAnita C. Cooper

JoAnita C. Cooper, 84, of Saint Cloud, Florida, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2015. She was born on November 1, 1930 to William and Zletta (King) Cloud in Chickasha, OK. JoAnita is survived by her loving husband, Matthew H. Cooper, III of Saint Cloud; son, Matthew H. Cooper, IV and his wife Sandy of Sewickley, PA; daughter, Zletta Kimberly Shipley and husband Arthur of Saint Cloud; daughter-in-law Annette Cooper; and six grandchildren: Joe, Bill, Hayden, Addison, Matthew (5th), and Benjamin. JoAnita is preceded in death by a son, William C. Cooper. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 24th from 5-6 pm with a Memorial Service to be held at 6 pm at Fisk Funeral Home, Saint Cloud. JoAnita was a beloved only child and cherished her parents. In her childhood she was a smart and beautiful girl, blessed with a lovely alto singing voice. She received a scholarship thanks to her singing, and attended the Oklahoma College for Women where she performed on the radio. She graduated with a Bachelors in Vocal Music. As a young woman she moved to Atlanta, GA where she met the love of her life Harvey Cooper. They were married in 1962 and were married for nearly 54 adventurous years. Together they have been the bedrock of a close knit extended family. JoAnita and Harvey both moved their parents to Saint Cloud in the 1970’s. Together they enabled both of their parents to live rich, full lives in their own homes until their deaths. JoAnita was a teacher in the Osceola County School System for two decades, teaching business math, science, and English as a second language. She will be remembered for her depthless generosity, her infectious laugh, her amazing hugs, her devotion to family, and her wonderful partnership with her husband. She was a devout Christian who exemplified God’s love in every aspect of her life. She will be greatly missed.
