Janie Carol Blaney

Janie C. (Dunavant) Blaney, 69, of St. Cloud, at rest on Wednesday March 7, 2018. Born in Ripley, Tennessee, Janie was the beloved daughter of the late Robert and Opal Dunavant. Janie was a loving, caring, hard-working and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She spent the majority of her career in the U.S. Air Force, where she served for over 22 years, retiring in 1996 at the rank of Master Sergeant. Janie spent the first few years of her career as an aircraft maintenance technician working on SAC KC135 aircraft but, spent the majority of her service time in Public Affairs as a Journalist. Over the course of her time in the Air Force, Janie was awarded numerous medals and commendations including: Meritorious Service, Air Force Achievement, USAF Good Conduct, National Defense Service, Southwest Asia Service, Humanitarian Service, and Liberation of Kuwait. She was a proud Desert Storm Veteran. In addition to the love she had for her country, Janie treasured traveling taking many RV trips with Don all around the U.S. She also enjoyed animals, gardening and was an avid reader. Janie was a warrior in all respects and lived her life to the fullest. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Janie is preceded in death by her father Robert, her mother Opal, her sister Daisy and her brother Bo. She is survived by her husband Don Blaney of St. Cloud; her children Elizabeth (Michael) Franke of Rotterdam, NY and Jeffrey Reingold of Seattle, WA; her brothers Don and Fred Dunavant of Seattle, WA and John Dunavant of Otsego, MI; and granddaughters Audrey, Jennifer, and Emily Franke all of Rotterdam, NY. She is also survived by a step brother, many step sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Viewing hours will be held Wednesday, March 14, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Fisk Funeral Home, 1107 Massachusetts Avenue, St. Cloud, FL. Burial with full military honors will follow at 2:30pm at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fl.
