James Anthony Delaney

James Anthony Delaney, 85, of Saint Cloud, Florida, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017. James was born on October 1, 1931 to R. Leo and Cecilia (Plouffe) Delaney in Pittsfield, MA. In 1950, he graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Pittsfield, MA. James was the owner and operator of the Delaney Excavating and Trucking Company for 40 years in Washington, MA., and was also co-owner of the Summet Hill Campground also located in Washington, MA. James served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956 and was discharged as 3rd Class Petty Officer Fireman during the Korean War. James was a parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church of St. Cloud. He is survived by his loving wife Marilyn with the celebration of their 64th wedding anniversary on July 4th. He is also survived by 3 sons: William Delaney and wife Cheryl of Charlotte, NC., James P. Delaney of Fargo, ND., and Thomas M. Delaney of Washington, MA; two daughters: Deborah Delaney Mullett of Saint Cloud, FL., and Dorothy C. Delaney of High Springs, FL; three grandsons: Jonathan Delaney of Washington, MA.,Nicholas Delaney of Fargo, ND., and Zachary Delaney of Charlotte, NC; four granddaughters: Justine Goonon of Dalton, MA., Jaime Lyn Delaney of Washington, MA., Whitney Delaney of Fargo, ND., and Kelsey Delaney of Charlotte, NC; two great-grandsons: Michael Goonon of Dalton, MA., and Anthony Delaney of Washington, MA; one great-granddaughter, Gabriella Goonon of Dalton, MA; one step-grandson, James Mullett and his wife Tina; four step-great-grandchildren: Emma Mullett, Kassidy Mullett, James Mullett and Mason Mullett. He is also survived by four brothers: Robert Delaney and wife Margaret of Oklahoma, Rev. Thomas M. Delaney of Brazil, John Delaney and wife Judy of Connecticut, Leo Delaney and his wife Lois of Massachusetts; and two sisters: Eileen Harrington of Arizona and Carol McCaffrey of Michigan. James is preceded in death by his parents, R. Leo and Cecilia (Plouffe) Delaney and granddaughter, Kaitlyn Delaney. The family will receive friends from 11-1:30 pm, with a service to be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, Aug 5th at Fisk Funeral Home, Saint Cloud. Full Military Honors will follow the service on Saturday, with inurnment at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
