David "Davey" Merritt Ennis

David Merritt Ennis, 64, of Saint Cloud, FL passed away on September 24, 2021 at 1556hrs. He was born on August 20, 1957 to Thomas and Kay (Hansel) Ennis in Kissimmee, FL. A longtime resident of the City of St. Cloud and a retiree of the St. Cloud Fire Rescue Department, “Davey” began his fire service career in the early 1970s as a volunteer with our department and then came on full-time in the early 1980s. He spent his entire career and life in service to his community and our organization. During his 30-year tenure with our department, he held the ranks of Firefighter, Engineer, Lieutenant, and Fire Marshal. A testament to his commitment to the community was shown through his various outreach programs that served the community youth and local charities. Additionally, he helped curate the annual Boy Scout golf tournament, raising donations to help families in need within the St. Cloud area. He was a member of the Florida Fire Marshals Association as well as the Florida State Firefighter Assoc. and served as past President, St. Cloud Firematics Team, Boy Scouts (Troop 9), Independent Order of Odd Fellows St. Cloud Lodge #66, as well as many others. He had a big heart, was an avid golfer, and a hunter. His dedication to service was unparalleled, and his passing leaves our organization with heavy hearts. Until we meet again. We will take it from here “Davey.” In addition to his parents Dave was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Ennis. David is survived by his loving family; daughters, Krystal L. (Rusty White) Dowdy, Kathy (Ricky) Bruner, Lisa Johnson, Son, Roy H. (Meredith) Ennis all of Saint Cloud, FL; Brothers, Victor (Debbie) Griffis of Gulf Hammock, FL, Bobby (Linda) Hansell of St. Cloud, FL; sisters, Debbie (Bob) Patrick Of St. Cloud, FL, Donna E. Stout of Berea, KY, Deanna Ennis of St. Cloud, FL; grandsons, David, Luke, Robert, Zachary; granddaughters, Amy, Lynsey and his Loving Girlfriend, Bonnie Hutto of St. Cloud, FL. The family will receive froends on Monday October 4, 2021 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the Canoe Creek Christian Church, 4080 Pine Tree Drive St. Cloud, FL 34772. A funeral service will be conducted that same day beginning at 11:00 AM with Pastors Byron and Joan Elsebough officating. Interment will follow in Mt. Peace Cemetery in St. Cloud.
