Barbara Hilary Allen

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother Barbara Hilary Allen, 72, of Kissimmee Florida passed away on September 23, 2023 after a lengthy battle with dementia. Barbara was born September 25, 1950 in Nottingham, England to Hilda and Harry Murfin. Barbara started work in the cost office at John Player and Sons, where she would stay for 12 years, eventually moving to kitchen manager of the Players Recreation Ground. Players is where she met the love of her life, Tony. They were married on December 19, 1970 and had one daughter, Susie. In 1980, Barbara and Tony purchased the Bramley Apple Inn in Southwell where Barbara ran the pub with her mum Hilda. She loved to cook and shared her knowledge with anyone she could, getting a degree in education from Nottingham Trent University. Barbara and Tony stayed in the pub trade with 2 other pubs over the years: the Station Hotel in Hucknall and the Poacher’s Pocket in Nottingham. She loved to travel, having been to Germany, Italy, Spain, Tenerife, and across the United States. The family eventually decided to move to Florida, and emigrated to the US in 2002. Barbara taught Food Safety Management courses before changing careers again, this time becoming a real estate broker. Barbara, Tony and Susie became US citizens in 2010. She was an avid Nottingham Forest fan, having traveled with the team for the eventful 1979 and 1980 European Cups, and could be found cheering on the Reds at the City Ground every Saturday afternoon, rain or shine. She is survived by husband Tony, daughter Susie, son-in-law Paul, grandson James Sierpinski, mother Hilda, sisters Patricia Thomas and Marilyn (Raymond) Ogier and brother Ivan (Beverley) Murfin. She is also survived by nieces and nephews and some bonus Florida Tech daughters; Tristan, Amber, Becca and Alicia to name a few. The family would like to thank the many nurses and caregivers that took care of her over the years, including Eleanor, Heather and Anisa. A memorial service will be held on October 15th, 2023 at 11am at the Fisk funeral home in St. Cloud, Florida.
