Anthony John Shaw

Anthony John Shaw, D.V.M. passed away suddenly on January 20, 2011. Anthony was born March 30, 1969 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and moved to the Keystone Heights, FL area in 1978. He attended Faith Christian Academy and graduated from Keystone Heights High School in 1987 as co-valedictorian. He attended the University of Florida graduating in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science then entered the University of Florida School of Veterinary Medicine where he graduated in 1994. He worked as a Veterinarian for 16 1/2 years, the last 10 years at Orange County Animal Services as a Staff Veterinarian. He was dedicated to helping furry, four legged critters that could be helped and improving their quality of life. He was a huge proponent of spaying and neutering animals and adopting shelter animals as pets. He was happy to receive calls from the Officers at OCAS about any animal in need and provided guidance freely. It didn’t matter if it was date night, dinner time or during a movie if an Officer needed assistance he was available to provide it. He was an avid Gator fan and Christian. If there was a Gator football game on he was checking the score and keeping up with how they were doing. And of course, he always cheered for whoever was playing FSU! He had a strong Christian faith and read his Bible on a regular basis. He is survived by his wife of almost 11 years Kimberly (Hampton) Shaw, parents Bob and Phyllis Shaw, brother Dean Shaw all of Melrose, FL; half sisters Jill Vanslambrouck (John) Golan of Marine City, MI and Lois Vanslambrouck (Doug) McCollister of Port Huron, MI. Father-in-law Gary (Rachel) Hampton, Grandin, FL; Mother-in-law, Sandy Hampton, brother-in-law Gary (Amy) Hampton and nephew Cole all of Orange Park, FL. There are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family too numerous to name but all loved and dear to his heart. A Memorial service will be held at Fisk Funeral Home, 1107 Massachusetts Ave., St. Cloud, FL on January 26, 2011 at 2 p.m. Pastor Danny Smartt officiating. A Celebration of Anthony’s Life will be held on January 27, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Lake Area Bible Church, 7085 County Road 214, Melrose, FL 32666. Pastors Danny Smartt and Glen Creasy officiating.
