Alberta Beatrice Mussa

Alberta Beatrice Mussa was born on October 31, 1935 in Panama, Canal Zone to the late Theodore & Silvinia Brathwaite. She was one of nine children. After a battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, she went home to be with the Lord at the age of 83. She was at home in St Cloud, FL with her family by her side. Charles L. Mussa, Sr. and Alberta got married in 1960 and had three children. Since Charles worked on the Canal Zone the family lived in Gamboa. There she was a homemaker. After his untimely death in June 1965, she migrated to the United States with her children. They came to Brooklyn, NY to stay with her sister, Iona Brathwaite. Brooklyn was her home for many years until she finally decided to leave the cold and head to a warmer climate. In 2014, she moved to Saint Cloud, FL to live with her daughter and her favorite son-in-law. Alberta loved the Lord. Every morning she had her quiet time with Him reading His Word and praying. Her favorite scripture was the 23rd Psalm. She served the Lord faithfully through the years at Nehemiah Christian Outreach Ministry in New York and Cornerstone Family Church in Florida. She had a big generous heart. She helped so many people throughout the years, it’s too many to count. Traveling was in her blood. Her sister, Iona, planned many trips which gave Alberta the opportunity to travel all over the world. She even had the opportunity to travel to Italy to visit her daughter while she was in the Navy. She often took along one or two of her grandchildren when she traveled. She loved to pass the time doing jigsaw puzzles and word search books. Checkers, Bunko, Bingo, Uno, PhaseTen, Taboo, Guesstures, Pokeno, Putt Putt Golf, Bowling...Did you say let’s play a game? Alberta was ready. She loved playing games and having fun. But watch out, because she was also very competitive. From 1 to 2 pm each weekday, she was unavailable. Do not disturb when her “program” (Days of Our Lives) is on. Her grandchildren were her heart. She did not want them to have to go to childcare. So she made it her job to provide quality care for her grandchildren. She was instrumental in helping to raise them, allowing their parents (her son & daughter-in-law) to work knowing that their children were in good hands. Prayer warrior, beautiful, loving, generous, strong, elegant, classy, stylish, Proverbs 31 woman, sweet spirit, humble, down to earth, faithful, dedicated, wise, funny, compassionate...These are just a few words that describe Alberta. She will truly be missed. Alberta was preceded in death by her parents: Theodore & Silvinia Brathwaite, husband: Charles L. Mussa, Sr.; and son: Mario Mussa. She leaves to cherish her memory her; Son: Charles Mussa Jr.; Daughter: Leyda Whyms (Spouse Lee Whyms); Grandchildren: Charles Mussa III (Spouse Tiffany Mussa), Christian Mussa, Dhavan Mussa, Marie Mussa and Onyx Mussa; Great Grandchildren: Charles Mussa IV and Madelyne Mussa; and a host of other family and life-long friends.
